Diabetes

There are three types of diabetes: type 1, type 2 and gestational (during pregnancy). Diabetes happens when your body can't use blood glucose for energy.

In Type 1, your pancreas no longer makes insulin. Blood glucose can't enter your cells to be used for energy.

In Type 2, either your pancreas does not make enough insulin or your body is unable to use insulin correctly.

Gestational diabetes only happens during pregnancy and usually goes away when you deliver your baby.
