Obesity

Having too much body fat is more than a personal appearance issue. When excess fat turns into obesity it shortens your life by causing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer and many other painful, life threatening diseases. Losing just 5 to 10 percent of your weight can prevent many of these diseases.

According to the World Health Organization, an adult with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or greater is obese. Find out your BMI here for adults. The BMI for children and teenagers is used differently; find out child and teen BMI.
