The training is designed to help CHWs develop the core skills they need to conduct the tasks and fulfill the roles that have come to describe their practice and place their work within the context of client empowerment and individual/community development. Training modules include communication, behavior change, adult learning, CHW history, identity and scope of practice, including integration within health and social service delivery systems. In addition, this training seeks to develop critical thinking skills within their participants, not just delivering content around what to think. This further develops empathy, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills, which are crucial elements for success.
