Military VIP Program at RUMC

Are you an active, retired, or reservist veteran of the United States military? If so, Richmond University Medical Center invites you to enroll in their VIP Program. Members of our military are eligible for unique benefits through the program when they visit Richmond University Medical Center or their primary care sites across Staten Island.

 

Benefits of the VIP Program:

  • Same day scheduling at RUMC Immediate Care/Primary Care/Walk In Center sites
  • Free parking at the main hospital (valet or token)
  • Free patient room television and/or telephone service, when admitted
  • 24/7 VIP behavioral/mental health issues hotline
  • Complimentary private maternity room, based on availability
  • 20% discount at Lori’s Gifts, located in the main lobby
  • 10% discount at hospital cafeteria and Starbucks
  • Reduced rates for special events (Annual gala, golf outing, etc.)
  • VIP invitation to hospital events (lunch and learns, ribbon cuttings, etc.)

How It Works:

Complete this form and also submit proof of service by email or mail to receive your personalized VIP card. Your card will be mailed to you. Once you receive your VIP program card, present it at the hospital or one of the RUMC primary care sites to enjoy your benefits.

 

Eligibility:

The VIP program is available to members of our military who are active, retired, or reservist. Benefits are non-transferrable and the VIP card must be provided to access the program’s benefits.

Registration is not complete until proof of service is also provided. Valid proof of military service includes:

  • Valid driver’s license with veteran designation
  • DD214 or VA healthcare card
  • A current veteran’s organization membership card (VFW, American Legion, etc.)

SaferLockRx Bottles and Deterra Bags

Recently, our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Volpe delivered SaferLockRx bottles and Deterra bags to several local pharmacies that have volunteered to participate in an important project to address Substance Use Disorder on Staten Island. This project was made possible by a grant from Healthfirst.
Studies have shown that over 50% of controlled medications are obtained without a prescription. This is often from friends and family. 32.5% of students surveyed in the 12th grade replied that opioids were easily accessible 2018.
SaferLockRx bottles permit safer storage of medications with a risk of addiction and overdose. We can all do our part by safely storing these types of medications and promptly disposing of medications that are no longer needed. Many pharmacies have medication disposal boxes on site and the three pharmacies participating in the project also have a limited number of Deterra bags that can be used at home to safely neutralize up to 98% medications which can then be safely disposed.

E-Recovery Helps a Vulnerable Population Stay Connected

NYC went on pause as of March 22nd and social distancing has been implemented as one of the major measures to help curb the COVID-19 pandemic.  In order to continue essential healthcare services, providers across all specialties are providing telehealth services.

Staten Island PPS has been offering its behavioral health partners E-recovery; an evidence-based technology and content to support addiction management. The goal of utilizing the app is to reduce relapse, support long-term recovery, and help patients stay connected. The app helps the patient and their healthcare provider stay connected through messaging, group chats, appointment reminders, and daily surveys.

App utilization during March and April has seen almost 2,000 text messages sent by patients across three sites. In addition, close to 1,000 surveys have been answered by patients utilizing the app. The continuity of activity helps a vulnerable population stay connected at the touch of their fingertips during a time where isolation may have detrimental impacts that could lead to relapse and other behavioral health triggers.

The experience amidst the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted the benefits of utilizing the app, with one patient stating that it has helped her stay connected during a time where she needed it most yet could not make it to appointments. Providers have expressed that the app has created a sense of “community” among patients and healthcare staff.

SIPPS Launches COVID-19 Bot to Identify Worsening SDOH Needs

Staten Island PPS is offering a platform for PPSs statewide to identify individuals and families in their respective service areas who wish to report any new or worsening needs during the COVID outbreak. The COVID-19 chat bot is simple, fast, and designed to identify SDOH gaps. The SI PPS network is currently using the tool with great effect and connecting individuals to community resources. The primary source of the contacts has been clients engaged via the PAM initiative, care coordination outreach, our SDOH surveys and rosters provided by our network partners who wish to engage their patients. Our partners are using these self-reported results to contact the respondents and coordinate with healthcare providers and local community-based health and social care providers. Analytics VBP Education Session: Member Services, Continuum of Care and Technology

The topic for this VBP Education webinar is “Analytics – Member Services, Continuum of Care, and Enabling Technologies.” During this time, COPE Health Solutions will emphasize how to leverage data to build the infrastructure required for a successful value based payment transition. Yomi Ajao, Senior Vice President, will outline how to approach data to identify trends, opportunities, and quantify population health initiatives. Sample topics to be covered include leveraging technology to ensure that members are connected to appropriate care (including non-clinical services), quantifying care gaps across the continuum of care and addressing social determinants of health (SDoH). There will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions regarding the materials presented.

VBP Education: Provider Integration – CBOs in Traditional Provider Networks

This VBP Education webinar topic is “Non-traditional Provider Integration.” During this time, COPE Health Solutions will provide an overview of non-traditional provider networks, and outline key considerations and strategies to support the integration of  clinical and non-clinical services to improve effectiveness of care within a member centric model. Darcie Goodman, Vice President at COPE Health Solutions will provide use case examples on how community based organizations (CBOs) can take a data driven approach to quantify their value on both quality and the total cost of care and the outline the steps to take to collect and report data. This will include how CBOs can identify key performance indicators (KPIs) that they can track and tie to outcome measures such as, QARR and HEDIS measures that clinical providers are held accountable for.
