Zero Overdose / Zero Suicide Training Series

Advancing Integrated Approaches to Overdose and Suicide Prevention

Overview
A first-of-its-kind initiative on Staten Island, bringing together leading experts and community partners to strengthen coordinated approaches to overdose and suicide prevention.
The Zero Overdose / Zero Suicide Training Series is a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals, behavioral health providers, substance use treatment organizations, and community partners to identify and respond to individuals at risk of overdose and suicide.
Developed through a partnership between the Staten Island Performing Provider System (SI PPS), the Staten Island Borough President’s Office, the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and Zero Overdose, the series brings together evidence-informed approaches to strengthen risk identification, early intervention, safety planning, and connections to treatment and recovery support.
Through six training modules, participants gain practical tools to recognize warning signs, respond effectively to individuals at risk, and integrate overdose and suicide prevention strategies into their everyday practice.
Originally delivered from November 2025 through April 2026, the training series is now available on demand to support continued learning and strengthen prevention efforts across communities.
